Should Adoptees Know Their Birth Parents?

I always knew that I was adopted. My parents told me the adoption agency attempted to find my birth parents, but could not. I was encouraged to search for them, but never did until late in life. At the age of 60 I found both birth parents. For me it was a life-changing experience. For some of my adopted relatives, finding their birth parents was not. Should adoptees, and those that gave them up for adoption, search?
